Is ShabuBox an EagleFiler alternative?
For scanned and downloaded paperwork, yes — and the two agree on keeping documents as real files in real folders. It is not a replacement for EagleFiler’s mail archiving or its broader capture of things like web pages, which ShabuBox does not do.
Do both apps really keep my files as normal files?
Yes. That is common ground. In ShabuBox your documents stay ordinary files in ordinary folders on your Mac, and the database is only an index over them, which can be rebuilt at any time.
Can I point ShabuBox at my existing EagleFiler library?
Because an EagleFiler library is made of real folders and files, you can bring those folders across and let ShabuBox read them — it will OCR what needs it and learn the structure you already built. Tags and metadata stored by EagleFiler do not transfer automatically.
Will ShabuBox move my files around without asking?
It files new documents into the folders it has learned, and it works in confidence bands: it auto-files when it is sure, suggests when it is close, and abstains when it isn’t. Everything new lands in the Inbox for you to review, and anything it does file you can still move yourself in Finder.
